Default 1st Birthday Party!

Okay, I am having any arguement with my brother on this one. Is it dumb to have a themed 1st birthday party? I want to have an Abby Caddabby (from Sesame Street) party for Isabella's 1st birthday party. Which I have asked my brother to make the cake for. I don't think that it is dumb...it is her very first party...it should be special. What are your thoughts or experiences?

i didn't do a theme... for me i figured she isn't going to remember it so i focused on the family element... besides i was so darn busy that i barely saw any of it... that said, i don't think there's anything wrong with doing a theme

We didnt do a theme wanted to but when it came down to it we were both just recently laid off from our jobs he was working I wasnt and we couldnt afford too much. So we plan on doing a themed one for his next b day. I think the caddabby birthday theme sounds perfect for one. (i like her too and so does Kate from Jon and Kate plus

I say go for it. First birthday parties are more for the parents than the babies anyhow.
We had a themed party(princesses) but it was generic. I am NOT a fan of character stuff- so until she ask- we'll get creative that way. Next year we're probably doing Candy land(which is what we wanted to do this year).
Go for it!

I don't think it is dumb at all...we did theme birthdays for my 2 older kids...teddy bear for my DS and ELMO for my DD...doesn't have to be but if that is what you want then go for it!! It is a great milestone and memories should be made and preserved...they may not "remember" it like we do but there will be pics to share and it becomes a part of their make-up/ their history....okay that is my 2 cents (50 cents) ....

I think it is fun to have themed parties.
I am recalling that DS#1 had clowns for a number of years
and DS#2 had trains for a number of years.

On the 1st BD, it is for everybody else attending.

No matter what you choose, themed or not, take lots of pictures
and it will be fun!

for izabell's first birthday we did a pink/girly pirate theme. izzy even had a girl pirate skull onesie & bandanna on. its definitely more for the parents -- which is probably why DH & I had so much fun lol.

we almost did abby cadabby, i like the decorations they have for her!
