Talking 1st birthday plans

Kenzie's birthday is just over 2 months away!!

We were going to do Kenzie's birthday theme as 'princess' but it seemed a bit too generic and overly used. Ya know what I mean?

So, we're going to go with a Candyland theme(minus the characters as we're not character fans, lol).

We're going to do cute little bucket centerpieces for the tables with those giant lollipops. I thought I would have a few jars of hard candies at the gift and food tables with cute little colorful bags for people to "snack" on.

Amy suggested that we could use bright solid color plates/tableclothes/etc. We're renting a pavilion so we'll have a few tables.

Only issue is the cake. We know of a bakery that'll put what-ever you want on it- but she recently raised her price to 100 bucks!! Uhhm, no thanks.

So, our favorite grocer has awesome cakes- but no theme similar to that(just lots of characters galore).

I found this cake- but it only serves 24. So, I thought it went pretty well with the whole idea and we could always buy an extra round cake.
The smash cake is free w/ the purchase of the big cake.

OR I was thinking this cake w/o the carebears and replace those with the game pieces to candyland.

Whatcha think? BTW, if I would make her cake it would be a disaster- so not an option.

Ooh, and we're still doing a tutu and matching cupcake onesie for her. I already ordered it and the Ebay lady doesn't return. I think it'll all coordinate well. This is the tutu. I can't believe we're already starting to organize this.

That tutu is adorable, i can't wait to see kenzie in it!

I like the carebear cake and just replace the carebears with the candy land game peices....that will work well and be cute.
Do any of your friends or relatives know how to bake cakes? You could ask around and see if anyone you know can make you the cake you really want....????

Wow! You're way ahead of me on the planning front

I know you said you didn't want to make it, but here are some ideas for 'sprucing up' whatever cake you pick to make it more Candyland. Here's another really cool looking one. If I was going to do it, I would go to Costco and buy a plain cake (just with white icing and the decorative borders on it, maybe the "happy birthday Kenzie") (I think they are 15-20 bucks) and get some of the green spray on icing stuff to make the 'grass' color and then decorate it with candy. But...my mom was a professional cake decorator so a little bit of her rubbed off on me and I like doing that kind of stuff.

Oh my gosh! That tutu outfit is so adorable...you're making me want a girl - I need be careful looking at pictures of cute tiny babies and sweet little girls, never know what might happen

That's such a great idea, yeah everyone is wearing out the characters, but I have no room to talk, I have a Dora fanatic!
The tutu is so adorable! You have to post some pictures of her in it on her birthday!

haha you are so much like me

We already put the deposit on the girls bday party. We are having it an an indoor playground (doing the princess theme since Jae got to pick...poor girl is having to share this year so im letting her do as much of the planning as possible.)

Your theme is SUCH a great idea...i also like the carebear cake but w/ candy land pieces...i know the actualy game is only $4.99 at Toys R Us...justa thought

Do you kno what day you are having it? I remember her being close to Thanksgiving ( and my bday hehe) We are having the girls on Nov. 8th...ugh i cant believe they are going to be one already!!!!

Yeah, Nov 29th.

I was thinking of having some Candyland games set up for kids to play since I don't plan on doing any organized games for a 1-year olds' birthday.
Princess theme is SO cute- but I know she'll be asking for that when she's a bit older(like Jae!)
