Default 2nd c-section

Well, I am not pg, and won't be for a little while. (we don't want a due date too close to the Holidays, adn or Tiffany's b-day) But if and when I do get pg I was wondering. If I decide to have another c-section, how close to the due date do they do it? (Barring any complications of course)
They wouldn't wait for me to go into labor would they?
For those of you ladies wo had to or who opted for a second c section, how many days before your due date did you deliver?

They usually won't do them until your full term. Your considered full term at 37weeks.

10 days early before the due date is standard here assuming all is well and there are no signs of labor.

With my 2nd child and this one that I am carrying now, it was/is two weeks. My DR even made a comment that it was nice that my due date was in the middle of the week for 'scheduling' purposes for the csection. I am due Oct. 29th, but already have my c-section scheduled for Oct. 15th.
Just so you know, they will (my DR does, at least) check for lung maturity before they do one.

My second was scheduled at 38 weeks, but when I was pregnant with my third, they apparently changed it, and I was not allowed to schedule any sooner then 39 weeks.

Wow, this is really good information. I never even thought to ask, but I had one with my first baby and I'm due May 4, 2008 with my second and I was curious about the earliest they would do it. Now I know.

Wow, that is good to know. I am not sure whether I would do Vbac or do the section. Since I am not pg yet, I have plenty of time to decide. Now that I know that I will definately avoid getting pg this month cuz then I would be having the baby right smack in the middle of Christmas/New Year.......I wouldn't mind so much, but my niece is a Christmas Eve baby and she hated it growing up. No sleep overs.......
So I am going to wait a couple months.
Thank you so much for your replies!!!

My doc waits until 39 weeks provided everything is all well. I didn't have a second section as planned though because Gabe came so quickly and a day earlier than scheduled.

when i went in for my first official checkup my Dr told me that it would be the week before my due date and they dont schedual it till I hit 30 weeks.
He also told me that if I do go into labour that I would be rushed in for an emergancy C-Section due to the complications I had with Lucas and how close to dying we were

My 2nd section was done at 39 weeks. I did actually ask the week before because I was so worried about cord accident, she was still doing complete somersaults but they refused. She arrived kicking and screaming with a tight true knot in her cord though!
