Default 2nd pregnancy

just curious about being preggers a 2nd time..is the labour and birth going to be different? is it longer or shorter (usually)? being so soon after giving birth should i be doing anything special? we had our 13 wk scan today and everything looks great which is so awesome but my SIL had babies close and #2 had problems becasue the were so close. has any one else had that or is it something i have to look for or am i just being over the top?

Me too...My 2nd labour and delivery was an hour shorter than my first..they do say that is sort of the rule of thumb (but not necessarily always the case!!) that with each consecutive pregnancy labour and delivery will shorten...However, as MiaCamille has stated each pregnancy is different and therefore each L&D will be too!!!
Wishing you all the best for the rest!!

My labor doesn't count, because after an hour of being in the hospital, I had a c-section ((it was planned, but he came a few days early)) but I got pregnant a month after giving birth the first, and the second pregnancy was horrible. From the previous section, I had pain all the time and I had to be extra careful because my body was still recovering from my first pregnancy... Just try to take it easier then the first time, your body might still be trying to get back to normal from your first! It needs a little extra TLC

Baby #2 for me was less than 1/2 the time it was for #1. But, now I'm waiting on #3 to arrive and yesterday my doctor said to call if my water broke. I reminded her that she had to break it with the other 2. She replied "well, you never had baby #3 before....it may be different this time".

Good luck, enjoy your pregnancy!

Alejandro (my first) took 14 1/2 hrs to get here...Aiden took 9hrs...and was a mnth early. His labor was far more painful then my 1st was. But I really think it all depends upon you..each PG is so different.
