500 dollar Wal-Mart Gift Card Discussion
This is not specifically coupon related, so if it's not appropriate for this board, please accept my apologies and delete it. I thought that even though it's not specifically about coupons, it is about saving and getting free stuff, so it might be of interest to many of the people here.
I recently completed (successfully, it seems thus far) a promotional offer for a free 500 dollar Wal-Mart gift card. I'm wondering if other people here have attempted or completed similar (by which I mean similarly large) offers, and what their success rate has been. Is this the kind of thing that people do a lot, or is there generally such a skepticism about them that most people don't try them?
I'm just interested in getting people's ideas, impressions, and experiences with these kinds of offers.

Re: 500 dollar Wal-Mart Gift Card Discussion
I had to complete eight offers. There was a wide variety of options, but I chose a combination of trial memberships (some of which were free, some of which required a shipping and handling fee for the free product to be mailed, all of which I was able to cancel with no complication) a Disney membership (cause now that we're having a baby we have an excuse to buy Disney movies), and an outright purchase (because it involved no commitment and we needed toner anyway.)
The card has been processed, approved, and confirmed. I'm currently in week three of the "allow six to eight weeks for delivery" stage.

Let me try to find it...
Yeah! This was my opinion too, but after successfully completing several smaller offers I thought I'd give this one a shot. Since things have gone so smoothly for me up until this point, I guess it must be pretty common, then, for them to send you your approval certificate and confirmation e-mail and tell you that they're shipping it and then blow you off, huh? (Not that this has happened to me, but if this does turn out to be a scam, that would be what happened.) How do they get away with that legally?

This should probably be moved under Misc.
I read somewhere specifically about the 500 walmart card.
Oh, right, from google
First item!
The main page actually has a list of companies that do this kind of stuff, and all the complaints registered.
I read a similar complaint somewhere else, though.

Re: 500 dollar Wal-Mart Gift Card Discussion
The Disney movie club is more of a hassle than anything. Get out if it's not too late. We also joined for our son, since we buy him many Disney movies. The problem was that when the new movies come out, they don't start selling them for a few months. By that time we have already bought the movie. We ended up not being able to fulfill our membership requirements due to this. Not to mention if you forget to "deny" the movie selection every month, they send it to you anyway and charge your card.

Argh! Never do those things! Not that I ever had, but I've heard nothing but problems. Netflix might be a better choice.
Besides, old disneymovies can be gotten from garage sales . New ones...well...make them wait .

Unless, of course, you actually want them to play.
Well, I've already done some and they worked. (At least I assume they worked since I ate the pizza and lobster I bought with the gift certificates. .) I Since I've already done this one, I'm hoping it comes through as well.

I only did it for the GC. If it comes through, it will have been more than well worth it.

Re: 500 dollar Wal-Mart Gift Card Discussion
My husband did one for a free portable DVD player and after the ten-twelve week wait, they sent him a check for the RETAIL value, I believe around $250. Then he just did one for a $1,000 amazon gift certificate. He fullfilled the requirements and received the certificate in the mail about two weeks ago. I was very skeptical but once I placed my amazon order the orders arrived, I just had to believe it. YET, be very careful when doing these deals, I know he researches and gets opinions from others to make sure the company is reputable.
