okay, i have a situation here, and i was just wondering if anyone could randomly help me with this. instead of a child, the subject here is a cat. yes, a cat. okay, now heres the situation: my fiancee's mom lives in PA while my fiancee lives with me in OH. one of my fiancee's cats is still in her mothers house. we removed one cat last year and it was arranged that we would get the other cat this spring. now that we are able to get the cat, the mother is suddenly telling us that we cant take him. the adoption papers for this cat are long gone and we cant get new copys of them, so the only thing stating who is his owner is a vet paper from when my fiancee took him to the hospital 2 years ago and it names her as his owner. so basically, how do we get my fiancee's cat out of her moms home? legally, is there anything we can do or that the mother could do if we just showed up to get him? we have told the mother several times that we will be coming up to get him, and my fiancee does have a key to the house which her mother gave her, so would we be considered breaking in if we just went in and got him? we really cant afford a lawyer and want to avoid one if necessary, so if anyone could just give me some basic help here, id really appreciate it. and while he may be just a cat, he's very much loved as if he were our kid
