Default A little nervous.

Here is a more detailed update now that I have some time. I am really nervous about everything going on. I am already at high risk for high blood pressure without being pg. Also I am at risk for diabetes. So since my dr knows this I get pricked at almost every visit and I get my blood pressure checked every two weeks. Well at my first appt in April my blood pressure was a little elevated and they said no big deal one high reading isnt going to kill you. But when I went in on Friday the 18 it was high again. The nurse freaked me and DH out as she was explaining the risks of high blood pressure this early yada yada right. So the dr comes in has be lay on my left side and takes it again this time we got a normal reading. He said right now he isnt too concerned with my blood pressure since when I laid on my left side it was normal which means bubs was sitting on something. I cant even remember what they said. But the thing that makes me nervous is I have been having dizzy spells where my head seems like it is spinning on the inside its really weird. With these dizzy spells DH and my FIL noticed that my eyes were kinda shaking back and forth real fast. I have no idea what this is but was told to just go ahead and wait for my normal appt with my dr. I dont know what is going on but I have increased swelling in my legs. which the obvious is already taking place elevate the legs and drink a whole lot of water. Been doing that. But also for the past couple of days I noticed that I am in hugh amounts of pain when I have to hold my bladder. I know it is best to go right away but sometimes you have to hold it. I was almost doubled over in pain when i couldt go to the bathroom and when i went (TMI I KNOW) there was barely anything there. My Drs nurses are completely incompetant when he isnt there ( he is on vacation for two weeks yay right) And they keep saying that it is normal nothing to worry about. I dont want to go to the ER unless I have to since I am on medicaid and if they determin it isnt a real emergency then they wont cover the bill. Anyone have any ideas what is going on with me?? The best news is I get to see the baby on Friday the 1st. Hoping to get a good peek in between the legs lol. But I did have a dream that something was wrong with the baby and needed to go in for more ultrasounds so we will see on friday

I would suggest drinking some cranberry juice. Those are very common symptoms of a UTI. If you've let it go on the cranberry juice won't work as well. . .but cranberry juice is one of those very excellent home remedies for a UTI. If that's the problem the cranberry juice at the very least should reduce the symptoms. If that's not what you have, it won't harm you.

The dizziness should be mentioned. . .but it is normal to have dizzy spells during pg. There's a reason for it but I don't have time right now. HTH

I would say try to lay on your your left side as much as you can! Like if your watching TV or something. That way during those periods of rest you get as much blood flow to the baby as you can. I would have to agree about telling your Dr. right away about getting dizzy! Try not to worry to much about the B/P thing. Dh's cousin is on dialysis and needs a kidney. Through out her whole pregnancy she had very high B/P and ended up getting GD and taking insulin for it but I am happy to say her son is almost two and doing fine. She delivered him at 33 weeks b/c she ended up with a kidney infection in the one good kidney but other than that all went well and the baby went home after 3 weeks in the NICU for not being able to control his sugar levels (from the GD). So try not to worry may women have high B/P during pregnancy and yes there are risks but dont freak yourself out about them. I did the same thing when I found out about me having GD.... I read all the articles about the problems GD babies can have and all I did was scare myself! If you get really worried about your B/P then stop in a Walgreen's or other pharmacy that has the free B/P machine and check it! Good luck Kristin I hope that everything is ok and the baby was just is a funny place for that day!

Although it may just be normal pg symptoms, a UTI could be partially responsible for the extra accumulation of fluid and the dizzies, as well as the pain -- the BP looks to be a non-issue, tell bubs to switch positions lol! Valorie's dead on, if you have a UTI cranberry juice can only help. My mom has kidney problems, and has found major improvement since she started drinking cranberry juice daily; she went from chronic infections to only the very occasional one. Keep going with the fluids, rest, and check in with your dr as soon as you can.

And btw, glad to have you back, missed you around the boards the past week!

I am on wic and I am constantly getting cranberry juice. I dont think i have a uti. As I drink a lot of cranberry juice. I love it without being pg. I am concerned but am having a hard time with the stupid nurses. The dr is on vacation until after the 6th of june.

To be honest, I've had it happen before when I held it for too long -- I think the muscles get so tensed up from holding it in, they can't relax easily to let you go lol! It's made all the more painful by the fact that bubs is putting extra pressure on your bladder. And again, dizzies and fluid can be par for course with pregnancy. If you're really concerned though, get an opinion somewhere else in the meantime; it can't hurt, and if you're not getting any satisfaction with the nurses, you're definitely entitled to do so.
