Default A question for mums of twins

I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and am getting ovary pain on both ovaries at different times. You know, the cyst? Does anyone know if that's a sign of twins? Did any twin mums have this happen to them? Because with my two other singleton pregnancies, I always only had one ovary, the same one, hurting. Thanks to anyone who can help!

If you are already 13 weeks along, IF you were carrying twins, you'd be bigger already. If you're really curious, measure yourself and see how big your belly is. Also, have you heard a heart beat yet?

I've been huge for many, many weeks already. I haven't heard a heart beat as yet.

Yes, that is one possible sign that you are carrying twins. I started measuring large for gestational age at about 10 weeks but this was my 4th pg. (Well, technically more but I have had a few mc.) By the time I was 13 weeks, I was measuring at about 17 weeks--but of course everyone is different. Just measuring large though is one sign that either you ate too many big macs--or you're having twins. I asked about the heart beat bc when I went to go see the doctor he couldn't find two heart beats that were distinctive bc the babies were one on top of the other, but it didn't sound the same. It was warbled for lack of a better term.

Are you sicker than normal? Is anything else different? (Besides the pain?) I am NEVER sick during pg and threw up only once with the twins. That was a hint for me that others brushed off saying, "Oh it's normal to be sick during pg." Which is true. . .but it wasn't normal for me to be sick." So my twin pg was slightly different. . .but enough that I suspected early on. When is your next appt?

My first appointment is tomorrow, yay! I am sick exactly the same as the other two pregnancies, but ridiculously more tired. And although I'm very fit and physically active, I've been getting out of breath really early on, because I feel that there is not enough space in my abdomen to breathe, lol!

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, I really appreciate it.

Well of course it does. . .but we're both women that have been pg at least a couple of times. We've kind of btdt. And we're not talking about showing but about measuring large for gestational age. Even in women who show early, they measure accurately for gestational age. Measuring large for gestational age is not the same as showing. Do you actually have twins?

Hennypenny--get on here as soon as you can and let us know how your appointment went! Although unless doc can pick up two clearly discernable seperate heartbeats. . .I doubt they'll say anything other than go get an ultra sound.

I agree with Valorie (twinzplus 3) ... I am 19 wks pregnant with twins and I measured big right away. It 10 wks I was measuring for 14 wks. Now that I am 19 weeks I am measuring the size of a normal pregnancy in the 24-25 wks.
I have not been pregnant before so I have nothing to compare it to. I just know that I am a lot bigger than other singelton pregnancies that are the same amount of weeks as me. I was very sick my 2nd and 3rd month of pregnancy, but then again I have never been pregant before to compare.
I did IVF and had 2 embryos transfered so I knew there was a chance of twins. The doctor couldn't hear 2 heartbeats until I was about 14 weeks along. I had to have a sonogram to see that it was twins.
Good Luck!

At 38 weeks with twins I was measuring at 50!! It's amazing how big you can get.
