A Quick Question
Ladies, what do you wear to the hospital to deliver your baby? Are you allowed to wear your own nightgown or is a hospital gown standard issue? I'm wondering what to take with me? Any ideas?

I brought an outfit for later, but I wore the hospital gown until DD was born. I think they'll let you wear your own outfit though.

If your having a normal delivery then I suggest taking an old nightie as births can be pretty messy. Something loose but not too long or too short. You may find that in the throws of labour you hate all clothes and what to take them all off.
If your having a section they will provide a hospital gown.
Afterward your bleeding heavily that everything gets in a mess so I've always avoided white. If your BFing then something that buttons down the front is good if not something that is loose enough to pull up.
Disposable underwear is good for the first few days too.

With my first birth, I had my own nightie on, whilst I was just having contractions, I planned to go nude later during the birth, but they put on a hospital gown as they wanted to prep me for an emergency caesar. Then, it was decided I'd have to give birth naturally, and there was no time to think about what I was wearing, so I gave birth in that gown. With my second, I gave birth nude, and intend to with this third child I'm now pregnant with.

Like the others have eluded, clothing will most likely be the last thing on your mind. It is extremely inconvenient for breastfeeding after birth and it's only covering your breasts during the birth. . .assuming that you maintain a position that allows it to stay on. I labored in hospital gowns. . .I didn't want to get my own clothes messy. I changed into my own nursing gown by the next day.

I labored and deliverd in a hospital gown.
I had brought my own gown with buttons down the front, but never ended up wearing it (I'd actually forgotten I'd brought it!) because the hospital had nursing gowns.

I wore the hospital digs. Delivery and the 1st few days are pretty messy and I didn't want to ruin anything good of mine

I understand...I tried to "tear" my clothes off...I was so hot...I didn't care who was in the room with me. The only thing I had on when I had Aiden was my bra...

everytime i took off that stupid gown, they put it back on me. as soon as i got feeling back in my legs, i put on my own sweatpants & panties. (just cheap cotton ones) and i HIGHLY reccommend bringing your own pads -- hospital ones are thicker than my coffee table's leg.
