Default A "contribution to society"?

So I'm probably going to get told that I'm overreacting by being a bit upset, but has anyone ever said to you "congratulations on your (whatever number you're on) contribution to society"? I had someone who I haven't spoken a word to in 6 months tell me that (on the internet) and I really am kind of bothered by it. Typically when I talk about "contributions to society" I'm not doing it with positive connotations... Maybe it is hormones now as to why I'm so irritated by this (I've been relatively good thus far about curbing my hormones)....

This is a prime example of why you need to be very careful about what you say on the internet to people because you don't know how they're going to take it. If this girl was attempting to forge a relationship with me again she potentially damaged it because I just am not happy about the way the phrase was used.... Can you see my point?
