Default About HCG levels

Okay so I got another blood test done because they wanted to see if my levels were rising and they are..... I went from 91 to 356 over the weekend. I have been reading things about multiples and higher hcg levels (like the numbers triple or quadruple) ... Going from 91 to 365 is that like a massive jump? Cause the doc's office seemed excited and now I'm a little nervous, my darn dh keeps trying to jinx me sayin we're having twins.... I'm not good with the whole "science" of being pregnant, so what does all that mean?

Your levels should double every 48-72 hours, so if there were say 4 or 5 days between tests then you'd be right on.

AND double trouble. . .but I wouldn't have had it any other way!!! Since I kind of thread jacked I'll get back to the OP:

Your hormone levels are supposed to double about every 24-48 hours (someone else said this already). It is VERY VERY VERY common to lose a twin early in gestation. I look at it as your body's way of protecting a viable fetus. Early in a pg, the body will usually absorb the extra tissue and w/o an ultrasound you may not even ever find out you were having twins. So with that said, I wouldn't get too freaked out (or excited) at the possibility of having twins. Even if you have an ultra sound that confirms it, I wouldn't think too much of it until you hear two heartbeats beating strong after 12 weeks. Your body is not really designed to carry two fetuses and it often adjusts accordingly.

I guess it would be about accurate then because the first time my blood was drawn was Thursday (I found out the results on Friday) that's when it was 91, then I had it drawn again Monday (found out the results Tuesday) that's when it was 356. So I guess I'm about right on with it doubling every 48 hours or so.

And twins wouldn't have been bad, I didn't mean it like that, lol, it just would have been a very BIG surprise, but that's probably not it. My numbrs are probably right on for one fetus (which seriously is kind of a relief, God bless you girls with twins cause I sure couldn't do it! It takes a very strong woman to have two infants at one time and not lose her mind!! )
