Default ? about the doppler

When I was at the doctors on Friday the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat...Am I the only one who thinks that's weird? She didn't seem concerned at all......

Yes, your second baby's heartbeat will be harder to find early on because of the leftover tummy from baby #1 !

Remember, at 12 weeks your baby is about the size of a kidney bean and the heartbeat is a tiny flutter inside of that. Any extra padding on mommy's tummy can make it hard for the instruments to pick up that tiny heartbeat.

Yup! We could see the heartbeat on the ultrasound, but couldn't hear it until somewhere around 14 weeks. With Devon, they didn't even bother with the doppler until around then because it's so hard to find the second time around.

I'm so annoyed that she wouldn't do a ultrasound. I don't really care what they usually do or when they usually do it or how everything is probably fine. I think that if I am willing to pay for it they should do it! It doesn't hurt the baby....but the stress will. I don't care if they think I shouldn't be stressed because I am. There really isn't much I can do about it. I don't have control over the stress. If they would just show me the baby it would be one less thing that I worry about for awhile....at least a little while.

Actually, the researched is mixed about whether or not multiple sonograms harm the baby and/or how many sonograms a baby can take and at what gestational age. There are many, many doctors that feel that waiting longer is better. . .and a whole body of medical folks that feel that you only do a sonogram when necessary. I appreciate your predicament in that you're worried. . .but I always think that "medicine on demand" is a bad thing. I gotta tell you to though that I know personally, when I'm stressed in a situation and think that one more thing will fix it. . .I often find something else to worry about. It's our nature.

Oh--and to answer your question. . .Nope. . .not weird at all not to hear the heartbeat at this point.

I am taking Azithromycin....it's a anitbiotic and the cough syrup the doctor prescribed....they don't even make anymore!! So I've got nothing for the coughing. My OB said those were both ok...but I dono. I'm on my third day of Azithromycin (4th pill) and I have 2 more to take. I don't feel any better. Still coughing up a lung and stuffy and all that not fun stuff. I'm still getting fevers too.

We were supposed to go to a birthday party today but we're sooooooo not gonna make it. It was a princess party too....she would have LOVED it. I feel bad...but she's still coughing alot too and all stuffy. Poor baby.

I would not be worried at all! My doc said until week 14 don't be suprised if you can't hear the heartbeat. We did though pretty early. But don't worry!
