Accused of coupon fraud
I went to a location I don't normally shop today. But, it's across from a Walgreen's and I visit there sometimes. I had to go in today to get a refund for something I bought there last week that rang up too high. So, I figure, since i'm there, i'll do a bit of shopping. I get to the register and the cashier rings up my stuff and I hand her my coupons. This man walks up (manager on duty I guess because I noticed the manager's name on the door when I came in was a woman) and takes my 3 internet coupons from her hand and hands them back to me. He says they can't accept them. I asked why because I used some there last week. He says that they can't accept them from me because all the internet coupons I used last week (8 of them) were denied by the coupon redemption center and returned because I had photocopied them. I was really floored because I have been using printables at CVS for months without a problem. I told him that I would be contacting corporate, took my other coupons back and left without buying anything.
I usually shop at the same 2 locations and have never heard a complaint about my internet printables at these stores. The managers at these locations know me by name and i'm sure I would have heard something, if my coupons were being returned for being copies. More so at these stores because I use a lot of internet printables there. The manager at my nearest store rang me up yesterday and didn't even blink when I gave her my printables.
I don't know what the problem is. But, I am sure that I didn't pass off any copied coupons. It's just too easy for me to use my second computer to print more. Now, I was watching him last week, watching me pay for my purchases. The cashier called him over because she didn't know if they accepted printables. They kept calling them 'scanned' and 'copied'. He told her that they accept them, if they scanned at the register and he scanned them in himself. Then he stood there and watched. My total went from around $60 to $7.15 after coupons, $10 off $50 and $29.99 in ECB. I could tell he didn't like it. But, I don't think that's any excuse to accuse a customer of coupon fraud.
I'm just ticked off and am writing an e-mail to corporate. I just think it was inexcuseable. Maybe if he had said CVS had a problem with my coupons because I use too many or have used the same ones more than once, then it might have not been a problem for me. But, each coupon I use is printed directly from the internet with all the unique codes and barcodes intact. No reason to be denied by the redemption center because each one is directly from a legal site.

I really wonder what the chances are that they had that quick of a turn around when it comes to sending coupons for redemption and finding out they are copies? I'm sure most stores wait weeks or maybe until the end of the month and then there would be the time to get them all together and sent or give them to a middle man(forget what they are called, but I know some stores use them) and they do all that. They really did all that in one week and already got a rejection from the manu and were able to link them to you? As long as you know they were all printed directly from a legit website I would be giving corp. a call. Sounds like he either took it upon himself to assume they were copies or he just doesn't like people who know how to save.

Great point! It's HIGHLY unlikely that those coupons made it thru CVS processing and redemption center processing and back to CVS along with a rejection in that short time period.
I would call corp and insist that a DM call me.
I would make him/her tell me how that could happen and ask if he/she condones a manger making up stuff to suit their purposes at the time

That is ridiculous, as well as completely and totally impossible that they were already submitted to the coupon clearinghouse place and rejected. If your time frame is correct, that guy is full of it. Unless he had such a problem with it when you were there, that he got someone involved on his own.
I've noticed that some stores (read: cashiers/managers/asst.managers) have a real problem with watching others save money.
It's nuts really. I would certainly write a letter to corporate or even consider trying to find the number and giving them a call. (phone calls are often more effective).
Anyway, best of luck with the whole thing, and what a jerk that guy really is.

ok going on a limb BUT everywhere I have ever worked has always put all the coupons from that particualar store together and then they are sent to corp which lumps them all together and sends them to the clearinghouse. I highly doubt even if yours were copied that they would know it was those particular ones that YOU used.
I would call the store manager and ask. If you are being accoused of passing off bad coupons the store manager SHOULD know who you are right??? Since you didn't then the store manager should be able to help you clear up this other managers issues. Of course it could be that the store mgr is a dunderhead too but might be worth the call
After thinking about it for a sec it could be that the mgr was told at some point after taking your coupons that they were not accepting them anymore because of problems with coping and the redemption center and stuff and he put 2 and 2 together and got 10 and your guilty

Coupon Fraud
I read somewhere that when you print a coupon off the internet you know how someitmes they come out one on a sheet with a bunch of other stuff with it? to not cut them out leave it in tact so that they can see that it was printed from a legit site, maybe that will help?

I always cut off the header with my email address in it, etc. They dont need that. Its direct info as to whose coupon it is. Altho CVS has your email address, no need to attach it to the particular coupons you are using. I know some have our first names on them, but others we print do not. Be sure to cut off the very top which shows which site you got the printable from.
They really do hate when we save money. Thing is, they can do the same thing! duh.
It just takes alot of time and trouble.

i was also accused of using a copied CVS printable because it was in Black and White to which i stated the email itself said it can be printed in black and white!!!! It doesn't mean that i copied it because it's not in color. This one manager said she wasn't going to honor my raincheck because the QTY was too high (9). I have never had a problem with having them write RCs for QTYs like that because i don't need to get it all at one store and this manager wanted to get the person who wrote it in trouble, little does this manager know they have to honor my RC even if they don't want to. It was signed by a Shift Supervisor and it says it doesn't expire and is good at any CVS. Yeah, let that manager try explaining to our attorney general as to why she won't take a RC that states good at any CVS. there are a ton of CVS' around and the managers and cashiers who know me have no problem writing me a RC for what i need. One manager even is nice enough to order for me something i need.
