Default Adopted an Animal please read... I have Q's

And if so how long did it take them to process you application or at least heard back from them if you got the pet or not.. The reason I am asking is cause we are trying to adopted a puppy and I put our application in on Monday and got and email back from them saying they got it and we review it and get back to us as soon as possible And we still have not heard anything...

Back in college my dad and I went to the local SPCA to adopt a dog. We looked and played with many dogs to find one who matched our personality. We fell in love with a lab/rott mix. She was perfect. We filled out an application there on the spot and it was reviewed. We had to answer a bunch of questions on what type of home, yard, environment etc. she might go to. They are very picky on that. We were approved within the next 3 days. The SPCA spays/nueters them and gives them a full vet check before they leave. We got to bring her home when she was over her anethesia. She's been a fabulous dog since. We named her Annie... our little orphan.
Now private adoption agencies can get really picky on future owners. I researched several and filled out applications, but many did not want the dogs to even go outside. They wanted them to be crated up at night and that they would periodically visit unannounced to make sure we were abiding by their rules. My dad has 5 acres of land that is well maintained and they denied our application because we were going to allow our dog to run around... which last time I heard is what they need... exercise. I even asked about walking their dogs and they were strongly against their dogs even touching grass. Why I am not sure... I may not ever understand that. Don't dogs have to use the bathroom? Be careful of private adoption centers. Here in Houston they are so bad about choosing owners.
Next pet we get will come from the SPCA again. There are so many pets that need homes. And when they come home with you they are so loyal and stick by your side. They are grateful you gave them a home.
Good luck!

i volunteer once a week at an ASPCA affiliated animal shelter. a person can fill out an adoption form, then it is reviewed and within 3-4 days it is approved. they ask lots of questions and require a fenced in back yard and all animals must be spayed/neutered before they leave. i would call them tomorrow and ask for an update! i hope you get your new addition soon!!!

ps: thank you so much for choosing to adopt rather than buy from a pet store. there are so many animals out there looking for a good home!!
