i'm an only child too but have younger cousins and second cousins so i had change nappies, fed bottles etc so when my daughter was born i took to the basic stuff like a duck to water, but i had no idea on other things like dressing a newborn or bathing, however with guidance from my family i picked it up quickly, that's the easy stuff tho... actually parenting is a whole different ball game, a lot of it you will learn on your own and from what i hear from other parents each child is another learning curve (so it doesn't matter how many children you have had or been around each child is different and you will learn to deal with each situation in accordance with the child's personalty)... btw my husband is also an only child and had never been around children but he learnt quickly and is a wonderful father

well first of all just take one step at a time. You may not no much about babies but when you have your baby nautural maternal instincts will kick in and they willl teach you basic stuff at the hospital. so don't be to worried, you can also sign up for local parenting classes in your area and practise changing diapers on a doll feeding picking and putting down baby. Don't worry to much it will come to.

I was 20 when i had my oldest...but i was around babies all the time. Most things will come naturally...for anything else, there are TONS of parenting classes, books, etc. Before you leave the hospital with the baby, make sure you ask every question you can thinks of. Ask them to show you the right way to do things if you are unsure. Good Luck!

i was 20 with my daughter. i'm also the youngest of 5, and was a surprise baby so nobody in my family was even close to my age, or was trying to have any babies. i had my neice, but i never changed her diaper (that i can remember). but like a lot of ladies said, it really does just come to you. i probably read every online article about pregnancy and babies. don't worry! you'll be a fantastic mom. congrats!
