Default advice needed on girls who share a room and bedtime

Jaecy has been acting up at night (when she is getting tired) really bad!!

Kaydee usually goes in 1st, around 8pm (if she makes it that long!) This way, if she cries for a minute, it wont bother Jae.

Jae follows around 9pm.

Lately Jae has needed to be put to bed early because of her acting up. Its the only punishment we can think of that actually works.

Problem is, if they go into the room at the same time, Jae crawls into Kaydee's crib, usually gets hurt in the process, and then both girls are SCREAMING. Then of course bedtime gets pushed back and both are miserable.

Any advice? Different punishment?

your going tohave to change the punishment, for the sake of bed time, try a naughty chair or spot, maybe on the bottom step if you have stairs inside the house? that would be my suggestion, good luck

God... I am soooo in the same boat with you!! I told you about it before... I can't think of an easy solution at all!! Both boys go to bed at the same time, can't change it, because if one goes to bed first, they'll just sit and scream for the other. Nap and bedtime is horrible. They don't listen for ANYTHING! They'll just get up and play... They have not taken a nap in god knows how long, and we put them in bed by 8 or 9, and they stay up and run around and play until 11 some nights, if not longer. I'm just about at wits end. The only advice I can sort of give, is let Jae run around outside for a good hour. Really wear her out... Some times it works, haha!

Perhaps she's getting over tired, have you tried putting them bed earlier? My little ones are both in bed by 7pm. If I leave it any longer they get beyond tired and just go into meltdown. My 7 and 9 year are in bed 7.30 - 8pm and my 12 year old 9pm.

I would try to put Kaydee to bed at 7 and Jae to bed at 7:30. Get room darkening shades if you don't have them so they don't realize its light outside...and if she acts up at that time take away a toy and tell her she cant play with it tomorrow unless she goes to sleep right now....that she has to earn it back with good behavior.

Good Luck!!!

What else does Jae hold high on her priority list? TV? special toy? play date? You could try to take away one her favorite things until she behaves. Thats the only thing that will work with Erin when she is being naughty.

The girls share bed time and a room too. What if you just hold kaydee or let her rest or sleep on your bed when Jae is in her room for punishment??
Sometimes if Erin or Ella are sent to their rooms around bed time the "good" one gets to watch tv in our bed until the punishment is over for the "offender".

SIGH....good luck!

We usually let Jae watch TV in our bed if Kaydee goes to bed later then usual. Gives Jae a chance to unwind and chill out, so when she is put to bed shes very ready to go to sleep...

Last night didnt turn out as horrible as we thought, Both girls went in awake at the same time, Jae went into Kayds crib once. Got hurt (bumped her head on the side) Both girls were up crying for about 10 mins then silence. Wonderful sound haha

Hopefully iy gets easier as they get older...

They will get used to the new bedtimes pretty quickly. Before we moved I had 3 sharing Jack would have been 4, Molly about 22 months and Luke 6 months. It's hard some evenings but for the most part they all settled quickly.
