Default Affected by Eating Disorders?

Are you or someone you love affected by eating disorders? If you are comfortable sharing, what books, support groups, websites, treatments and therapies would you recommend? Which would you NOT recommend?

I think there is a crisis in this country that is being overlooked. We all know about anorexia and bulimia. But compulsive overeating is another disorder. That is, binging without purging. In addition to this, there is very little attention given to the other group of bulimics, that is, the girls who are overweight or of regular weight who are regularly binging and purging. Just a thought. We recognize the symptoms of these disorders when we see someone who is gaunt and has lost a lot of weight, but people with bulimia can be at weight or overweight and still be living this horrible epidemic. Their organs are affected which can lead to heart attack or death as well.
Just a few things to consider if you think you may know someone with an eating disorder.

I agree with what mamaip said, the majority of people cannot recieve treatment until they are near deaths door, yes someone who is 6stone can be anorexic or bulemic, but someone can be 12stone and in the exact same situation.
An event which happened when I was nineteen caused me to stop eating, it wasn't about body image, my fear had been transfered from the trauma to food. I think eating disorders tend to be looked as young girls as sufferers, when at the moment alot of middle aged men and women are suffering from the condition but they seem to be swept under the carpet.
