Age gaps
Hey, I'm new to the forums and also parenting. I was wondering do you have any really big age gaps in your family?
There's going to be a 24 year age gap between my eldest stepson and my daughter - due in 16 days. It seems really big to me - especially since my eldest stepson has his own children.

lol..yeah, that is a big age gap. I'm sure their relationship will be unique though.
My youngest daughter is 7 1/2 years older than Conner, Bobbie is 13 years older than him, and Jessica is 12 years older. Not too over-the-top, but it's an age difference none-the-less.
Conner simply has 4 moms. And he's ruined for any future wife he may choose to have. No one woman will be able to please him after having 4 to cater to his every whim lol...j/k, we don't quite spoil him THAT bad (i hope)

It's simmilar with my step daughter, she's got 5 brothers and there was no way her girlfriend was going to be good enough by her big brothers standards... it passes. 12 years is the smallest age gap we're dealing with so it helps to hear about your family.

There some age gaps in my family! I have a sister 2 years older than me, one 12 years younger, and one 17 years younger. I am very close with my older and next younger sister (she is 21 now, I am 33). I get along nicely with my youngest sister, but don't know her as well since I was almost out of the house when she was born. My oldest daughter is great friends with her though- they talk on the phone all the time, and have a blog together! I'm sure it seems strange to some people to have sisters such a wide range in ages, but feels perfectly normal to me now.
Best wishes on your little one- you must be sooo eager to hold her!

I really can't, my hubby is quietly excited. The more time I spend with my granddaughters the more excited I get.

My first four kids were barely more than a few months apart, but then there's a gap of nearly a decade until I remarried. With my current wife it's back to the same pattern, very closely spaced pregnancies.

Our oldest turned 21 two months after our youngest was born. There are 13 others between them so we have them ranging from 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 15, 14, 12, 11, 9, 8, 6, 5, 3 and the newborn. My older kids aren't married yet and are very close to the younger ones. My mom's family had older kids that had kids when the younger ones were born and those were really fun relationships. I grew up with my uncle that had several nephews before he was born and was only 17 months older than me and one of my best friends. My friend has 13 kids and was having her last 3 or 4 the same time her daughters were having babies. It seems strange when I think about my oldest son who just turned 21 and knowing that I had 3 kids at his age.
Good luck and congratulations.

I was born when my oldest sister was 15, next sister 14, 12, 9, and six. All girls. We got allong as well as 6 girls in one house can. We are there for each other now that we all live in our own homes. We get together once a month for a family dinner. I'm not as close to my oldest sister, but she has emotional issues and lives far away, so none of us really are able to keep in touch with her.
I don't think age gaps will matter once all the kids are out of the house, they can make a difference when one is in grade school and another is in college, they don't tend to have too much in common.
