So I play soccer on Thursdays with work as a part of a friendly comp in the area that I work. We have a good time and to be honest arent all that great, but we have a good time and we're active which is what its all about really.
Thursday just gone (6th Nov) about 2 mins before the end of the first half, I turned to go and get the ball which had been kicked out, and the bottom half of my leg stays put, but my thigh decides that it would like to turn with the rest of my body, resulting in me collapsing onto the grass because it felt as though my knee had dislocated or something. I rolled over and tried to get up and put weight on it again but... down I go. So I'm on the ground saying a couple of naughty words, and everyone rushes over. I get helped off to the sideline, and the ref goes and gets me some ice during the halftime break which was fine.
So I was taken home by my manager since I usually catch the train, and went up to the doctors at about 3:30pm. I wasn't really in pain unless I tried to move it or put weight on it (and to be honest I've had period pain that hurts more than my knee did). I finally got to see my doctor after 5:30pm, since he's so popular, had an x-ray and there is nothing wrong with my bones, nothing broken or dislocated which I find weird because if I put my foot down properly and try to walk properly the bones move and it's like I'm going to collapse again. But the doctor said it could be the fluid in the knee joint (which I believe is called synovial I think) or I could have damaged some ligaments which won't show up on the x-ray.
So my knee is know bandaged and I'm hobbling around on crutches since I cant put my full weight on it and keeping it up as much as possible and I have to wait and see how it feels on Monday as to whether I can go to work or not. I would like to go, so that they're not short staffed and because I feel like a fraud since nothing showed up on the x-ray, but I have to wait and see.
So I actually find the whole thing rather amusing since the week before one of the ladies I work with broke her wrist! So they are now down two female players and you have to have a minimum of two on the field at a time (its 6-a-side) So we're thinking of changing our name to the cripples or somthing like that
Thanks for getting through all that!
