Cool Alyssa Li's Blog (4 year old answers life's toughest questions)

Hi everyone! I thought I would point you to my daughters blog. You can ask her questions about parenting, familes, or anything else and she will respond to you with 4 year old wisdom and a bit of sarcasm too!

OK, this is a cute idea. How much of this does your daughter actually write and how much is you in her voice?

When I was a daycare provider, I used to write down words the children said. We called it "experience charts". That way they got to see what they had said had meaning in print. Just the other day, I was boxing up old things and I found a thank you note my two year old had written to my aunt. I wrote it, but it was dictated word for word. And he signed it. This brings up some interesting ideas for moms and blogging - assuming you want to put your child out there on the internet.

Do you get a lot of inappropriate spam?

In the future, please put the link to your blog in your sig. We don't want posts that say "Hey, look at this blog". But people will find you in your sig when you participate in our discussions.

Most of Alyssa's blogging is me. When I first started the blog, each entry was inspired by real events that Alyssa experienced and I had witnessed. Then one day, we decided to change it so that Alyssa was answering emails (someone in our family emailed her and I helped her reply; she seemed to really like that experience, so I thought we should develop that!) I thought it would be a neat way to show her that I was involved in her life from a very early age. She is adopted from China; a true blessing. I have 4 children and 2 jobs...where do we find the time?!
I do not get any spam, except in the Gmail account I created for her.
Sorry for the double post...!

Thanks. And I think this is a great tool for recording Alyssa's life and observations. Also promotes literacy.

Recently in moving, I have been sorting some of my children's "early works". I came across a thank you note written by DS1 when he was two. He dictated it to me, with answering some questions from me.

I know it is dictated, because it is in my handwriting - but it says when he is talking about attending a parade "I counted all the marching bands, the policemens, the cars, the fire trucks 5! 5 fire trucks! the tanks, the ball players and best of all the cannon! It went BOOM! Once." Just the way he spoke it.

We didn't have blogging then, wish we did. Great way to promote literacy. Put kids own words in writing, with them as part of the process.
