Question Am I wrong?

Yesterday I went to a CVS located in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Here is my purchase.

5 Palmolives @ 1.49 ea. $7.45
1 Viva 6.99
1 Peanut Butter cracker 1.29
SUBTOTAL $15.73
Tax 1.09
TOTAL BEFORE COUPONS $16.82
$3.00 OFF $15.00 ($3.00)
AMOUNT TO BE PAID $13.82

I gave the cashier a $10.00 ECB, $2.00 EBC and $1.82 cash.

The cashier told me that she could not accept the $10.00 ECB or the $2.00 ECB because the register told her that I had used too many coupons.

I told her that the register was wrong and to push the $10.00 ECB and the $2.00 ECB through.

She said that she tried and the register refused to accept either of the two ECBs. She said that I had to pay the entire $13.82. Another cashier came over and agreed with her. I asked to see the manager. The assistant manager came over and told me the same thing.

This assistant manager then proceeded to ring the $10.00 ECB up after the sale. She did the same with the $2.00 ECB. While she was ringing up the ECBs in separate transactions after the sale, she proceeded to tell me that I was illegally using the $10.00 ECB and the $2.00 ECB in this transaction.

This made me mad as HELL!!!! She was accusing me of FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When she finished taking my $1.82, she stapled both of the ECBs together and said she was going to show these to the loss prevention person.

I told her to have her manager and the loss prevention person call me Monday.

I think I am right in my reasoning.

Am I wrong? I need your input.

Mala, if I am reading correctly, you had 7 items and 3 coupons (1 CVS coupon and 2 ECBs).

Did the clerk do the 3 off $15 1st? Then the 2 ECBs? That is the correct order of the coupons. Hand them to the clerk 1 at a time.

That is just fine.
You did your homework.
You can use more than 1 ECB together.

IMO, the clerk and the ast manager were in the wrong.

You need to speak with the store manager and call the 800# for CVS.

I don't know what you could have done wrong--that's exactly how I've used my ecb's (same as cash), and I've never had an issue. I hope they give you an apology for being made to feel like a criminal!

Was the $3 off $15 from home mailer postcard? I have had problems EVERYtime I use a home mailer coupon.
If I use the $3/$15 first, then the register does not allow any subsequent coupon to be used if it is over $3 -- this includes manufacturer's coupons, CVS coupons, ECBs.
If this was the problem, the solutions here would have been 1. void order and re-ring using the $3/15 last, 2. use multiple smaller amounts of ECBs instead of the larger ECB, or 3. have the mgr enter the $10 ECB into smaller increments ($3, $3, $3, $1).
Hope this helps.
