Default Another Hollywood star Meg Ryan adopts baby from China Jan. 20th

It may be of interest to some that another Hollywood single parent, Meg Ryan has adopted a baby from China this week. Here is the info from contactmusic website

MEG RYAN is set to join Hollywood's adoptive mothers after reportedly signing up to play mother to a Chinese baby.
The actress will take charge of a Chinese baby later today (20JAN06), according to America's OK! celebrity magazine.
Sources claim the WHEN HARRY MET SALLY star has spent months chasing her dream of becoming a mum for the second time and heard the news she had been approved late last year (05).
The adoption is scheduled to take place at an American consulate in China, according to OK! sources.
An insider tells the publication, "The consulate will formalise the adoption and grant Meg's new daughter a visa and a social security number.
"They will probably be flying back to the US immediately after the process is complete."
Ryan has a teenage son, JACK, by former husband DENNIS QUAID.
Other Hollywood stars who have discovered the thrill of adoption include ANGELINA JOLIE, DIANE KEATON, SHARON STONE and NICOLE KIDMAN.

I posted the Meg Ryan adoption story above. A couple comments on the news media article on Meg Ryan's adoption this week. It is sad that the writer of the media piece referred to her adoption as "playing mom". Regardless if the writer liked Ryan or not, or even thought this was not a positive adoption, stating adoptive parenting as "playing mom" is certainly painting a poor picture of the serious committment and love that most adoptive parents embrace when they chose adoption. Also saying she was "taking charge" of the baby on a certain date is also a poor choice of words. We who are touched by adoption need to help educate society, friends, relatives and others on positive adoption language. Maybe some of you will write to the editor of that piece above. Jody

I do very much agree with the poor use of words many news articles use when writing about adoption issues.... Thanks for pointing this out. Writing editors is an important role many of us need to take when we see these things....one stone at a time we may be able to build a good foundation for adoption language.

As For the fact that Meg Ryan has adopted I frankly have no issue with this....Meg has a few biological children and everything I have ever known of her would not make me distrust her motives...In fact, I think that it is sad when so many do judge motivations for adoption....Many would say that it is far better a child live with a Hollywood Actress then in the orphanages and situations they live in before being adopted....

Clearly there are not enough people who are NOT Hollywood actresses adopting all the children in the world who need families...I don't know why people are so upset when someone who can offer a child so much is willing to do so....
