Our girls are 10 and 13. Can anyone suggest a nice family trip in California? We really haven't done much travelling in the state (even though we live in the Bay Area). It's actually a shame that we haven't even gone camping before.
Local attractions you could take day trips too are the Monteray Bay Aquarium, Santa Crus Beach Boardwalk, or Pier 39 in San Francisco. But if your looking to go father, a great family destination is Universal Studios. I think it's more fun that disneyland and appropriate for all ages. They have a Hilton in universal city with pretty good rates as well. San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld are good places for little kids too

You can never go wrong with Disneyland... or if you are looking for more scary thrills, there is always Magic Mountain. Try also
