Default Anyone ever use spray-on Frontline?

A neighbor uses a pump spray version of Frontline on her dog and was asking me today if I knew anything about it. I had never heard of it before she told me. She said her dog never went nuts using the little tubes, but he goes ballistic when he gets the spray on kind. Dives in the dirt, runs through their bushes, gets nuts and frantic. She just thought it was because it was more wet than the other and he doesn't like "baths." She thought maybe he was associating it with that.

However, yesterday she accidentally squirted herself and it burned her skin. Not a blister burn, but a burning sensation. She's worried maybe that's how it feels to Otis.

Has anyone ever had any experience with this form of flea protection? Had any similar experiences? I think she's going back to the other kind after this, but she asked me to check and see if anyone else knew anything so...

I had a flea control shampoo for my dog and it did give me a burning sensation on my skin for a while, so these are pretty strong but do get the prescribed ones only.

The spray-on does burn the pet's skin. I'd run and roll in the dirt too!

My mom's elderly dog went last week for grooming and with all that long hair, had lots of ticks. This is a small house dog that only goes outside in a park-like setting to do her business. She gets brushed daily. It hadn't been that long since the last grooming.

We were told that it is a very severe year for ticks or fleas. At least there were no fleas.

They had the 'cheap stuff' in the cupboard, but the vet advised not to use it due to the burning.

We got the expensive stuff in the little tubes that goes on the back once a month.
3 tubes for....$60.xx! But well worth it because it did not irritate the dog.
Pet Smart or Pet Co....we went to both and the it was under lock and key by the check-out counters.

Let us know how it goes for you!

Thanks Queen Angie and Starleads!

I told my neighbor, who felt just awful at hearing other people have had similar experiences. She thought maybe she just got a bad batch. She's going back to the tubes. She's like us...it's worth the extra money to ensure no discomfort for her Otis!!!
