anyone have an official coupon policy from CVS?
I had a cashier tell me I can't use 2 of the same coupon for a purchase (you know the "one coupon per purchase" thing) She said her manager said so. I thought I would see if anyone here has an email from them stating otherwise, before I start calling corporate on them. That way I can just print it out and bring it in, instead of waiting for them to contact him.

I don't have it, but

Well I wish I could help you out more, but I'm afraid that a copy of an email might not help you much. I have already e-mailed CVS about it and this was the response I got regarding their policy on coupons:
"to answer your question regarding manufacturer coupons, the store should accept 1 manufacturer coupon per item. Depending on the restrictions listed on the manufacturer coupon, you may or may not be able to use more than one coupon per transaction."

Re: anyone have an official coupon policy from CVS?
Do not think there will be more exact answer from the corporate. Even the most current policy might be written in the language anyone can interprete own way..
I was always using 2 coupons for B1G1F everywhere, including CVS. Yesterday CVS cashier was trying to tell me they cannot take coupons for "free" items. It happened that the district manager was there, she told me the same thing. But I was able to convince her that B1G1 is CVS sale, and as soon as CVS allow using manufacturers coupons with their in-store sales I can use 2 coupons for B1G1 sale, because technically 2 items went through the register. The condition: no overage, the total value of the coupons cannot exceed the combined price of the items.
What I had out of this occurance is YMMV big time, it seems like they do not have an iron-clad policy, all depends on the cashier and the manager.
However, most of the major chains have tighten up their coupon policies.

Re: anyone have an official coupon policy from CVS?
Oh my... I'm so glad they don't tell me one coupon per "order/transaction"! How on earth could you use like $1 off coupon (for instance) for each dove item and buy $20 worth to get the Extrabucks? That doesn't sound right to me. I've never heard of any place saying one coupon per transaction- if you have a coupon for each item (seperately ofcourse) they should take it.
And instore coupons are not considered the same as mfr coupons- so they should take both! But I know some places won't do that (like HEB, walgreens questioned it one time -the cashier did... mgr said one instore/one mfr is fine).
There is no way I'd buy at CVS if I could only use one coupon per transaction. that would mean I'd have to pay full price for all but one item in the specials like buy $20 of Dove for $10 extrabucks and such. It has to be purchased at once- not in and out of the store for each item with a different coupon!

Re: anyone have an official coupon policy from CVS?
Thanks for the responses, it's good to know what stores not to bother with when I shop. I had similar problems with Wal-mart and couldn't get a response from corporate on that either. This resulted in me being singled out by CSM's when I used coupons, I don't want the same to happen at CVS so I'll just use one coupon and make repeat trips

All these cashiers and managers who prohibit more then 1 coupon are mixing up is definition of "transaction" and "purchase". A customers can make more then 1 purchase per transaction, therefore use more then 1 coupon. Often we have to remind them about the difference.

Not sure about 20 coupons at once, depends how the cashier or the manager would let you. At one store they show me their WRITTEN policy: no more then 4 identical coupons and 16 coupons total per transaction. At another store they took my 36 identical coupons in 1 shot without blinking an eye.
But using 1 coupon per transaction and going in & out... No, not me.

Well, actually, now that I think about it, there are a lot of (mainly moms) with young kids here, so I guess I'm wrong!
I actually thought the same thing the guy thought when I was shopping with my mom, ohhhhh, 20+ years ago (MOMMMMMMMMMMM, why so many coupons, you cheapskate!). Heh heh, now that it's MY credit card bill......

You know, so many of my coworkers look with so much disdain upon coupons, well lets see, they cant afford their groceries and go out and have fun. Yet here I am, having great food to eat, my favorite shampoo (pantene) going out to dinner, having fun, etc. I just laugh at them. I try to help them but they show no interest in it.
And these are the same people that go out and buy a new Ford F350 (which probably gets about 8 blocks to the gallon), brag about it, then whine about the cost of gas.
It definitely is a mentality. Professionals can sometimes think they're above trying to save a few bucks. Well, then let 'em! If too many people start doing it, then it won't be worth it for the companies to offer the deals. I'd rather have the $$$ for my own family to use on things WE enjoy.
(I got one in the office next to me that will pay top dollar for everything just because it's a little more convenient. Which is fine, except she constantly complains how little she has in her 401(k)...and she's almost ready to retire! If she made even a little effort throughout the years, she'd be in a much better position to retire. But she puts a lot of emphasis on convenience. But at the same time, she applauds me for clipping the coupons and such.)
