Exclamation Anyone know about health insurance???

So I have temp coverage that didn't cover enough when I went for my surgery. I finally got word that my coverage from before (that is awsome) is effective and offically continued...so I'm covered from the begining of October till now as long as I keep paying some crazy amount for it (Which I will do because it's cheaper than the doctor bills) My question is...when I went to have my surgery they made me do a self pay thing that I couldn't afford and put on a credit card because my temp coverage wouldnt' cover it. Can I have them reverse that??? and bill the other company and give me back my money I don't have????? I am worried that they can't do that...but I could really use it and that really stinks if they don't do it becuase I was covered! It just wasn't effective at the moment....and can I get all those outragous copays back if they will bill the other company? becuase the other company has no copay and they pay 100%.

If you can follow that.........thanks for trying! I know I am not great at explaining it cause I don't get it!

Yes, you should be able to get the $$ back, if you were covered (I believe it is called retro-active). They won't automatically do it - youhave to pursue it. I would guess you'll have to submit paperwork proving you were covered to the billing department.

You can do it. I am a certified medical insurance coding and billing specialist. You can do it there is just a lot of paperwork. Contact the clinic that you went to and let them know of your other insurance, I would just tell them that you didnt know you had both insurances and then ask them how to do retro active billing. They should be able to do it and I am not sure if they will put the money back on the credit card but they may issue a check and then you can pay off the credit card. HTH

You can also contact the insurance company with the bill and have them reimburse you for the payments.
