Question Anyone knowledgable on cameras?

I am thinking of purchasing a Nikon D80 SLR, but before I spend that much money I'd like some personal feedback on it.
Thanks!!!

Thumbs up D50 Comments

I don't have a D80 but I have owned a Nikon D50 for 18 months. There are a few differences between the D80 and D50, megapixels, LCD and viewfinder size are probably the biggest difference between the two cameras. Both camera bodies use the same lenses and have the same basic features layout. I love my D50. Very intuitive to use. It takes awesome photographs. If you can afford it I highly recommend buying a digital SLR camera.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for the input, Rochelle! I appreciate it!
I have talked to a few other people about the D50 on a different site, and they all pretty much said the same thing as you did. That's good to know! I am pretty impressed with the D80, and if we can swing it, I am going to be buying it real soon! It's pretty pricy, but to me, it's worth it. I love photography!

Shannon,
I don't have a Nikon SLR but I do have a Canon RebelXT (similar level to the D80, I believe) and I regularly read and research products on another forum. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a direct link here so PM me if you're interested - or someone please let me know if I can post a link to another forum.
BTW, a friend of mine bought a D80 awhile back and was very pleased with it. It really depends on what your photographic interests are because sometimes an SLR can be more work (a learning curve) to adjust to. I love my Canon and would have missed many shots of my baby if it had not been for the very short shutterlag and the rapid fire shutter.

Hi, I also have the D50 and I have a very good experience with it... What I suggest, I alsway check in tech support sites before buying a camera or any other products. You might find a common malfunction or error that will help you choose not to buy the camera.

Here is a good example for a great tech support site:

Good luck

I have a Canon RebelXT and love it! It takes really good pictures. It has been capturing alot of my kids lives. I would go nuts if I didn't have my camera.
