Default Anyone worried about bird flu?

Will bird flu change your life at all? Will you dump your bird feeders? Do anything special to prevent? I'm not really worried but I heard you should clean your feeders often. The big problem seems to be chickens.

No, I'm not worried about bird flu. If it comes, we'll all be in the same boat. However, I know a few people who would ditch their budgies in a moment if there was a scare here. If a pandemic occurs, there's not much we can do about it. Frankly, you're more at risk just geting in the car, but no-one really looks at the facts and the media sure do love to beat up fear-based stories. Enjoy the birds!

I'm with beth. We can't really live in fear of everything around us. If the bird flu does hit the US, then I will probably live life just as I do now. When you think about it, how many of us really come in day to day contact with actual birds now?

I just refilled my birdfeeder this morning. I honestly never thought about it. I enjoy watching the birds so much, that it didn't even occur to me.

I maintain a flock of chickens and turkeys, about 200 of them. I have cut down the trees that wild birds perch in waiting to see if my trusty fowl leave them any tastey morsels.
The pens now have covers over them, but this wasn't started because of the bird flu, rather west nile virus as well as exotic new castle disease. I have had to make a few more precautions with the bird flu that I didn't need to for west nile which is mosquito carried, and new castle isn't H2H (human to human). The bird flu always has that possibility of becoming H2H so I now maintain a very clean chicken yard and wear a mask.
