Default Appropriate Rock Music

I''m teaching a movie making class. One session is a group of 12 kids K-2nd grade. I think fr that group Im going to let them make their own music video for an existing song. So i would play the song, they would lip sing to it, then I can edit it over the music.

For K-2nd grade what would an "appopriate" rock song be that the kids could use a drum and a guitar, but parents wouldnt be upset about?

Right now I'm leaning toward Wild Thing...any other ideas?

I listened to a few "Kids Bop" Cds. Really, even though they're sung by kids I would feel uncomfortable teaching them to a 5year old. I wouldn't want my little one to come home singing them...so I'm not going to teach them to other peoples children.

Those Backyardigans songs are just great...but gradeschoolers might not be into them... i was listening to doo-wop records when i was a kid... my dad was a singer, and my mom a music teacher so music was everywhere... and I listened to some suggestive stuff like Little Richard, but of course contemporary music is considered much more vulgar lyrically than it was ages ago... the early Beatles music is pretty harmless, isn't it?

Wow....I didn't realize they were so offensive....they rewrote the songs for kids. I'll have to pay attention the next time I hear one. I've never heard anything I wouldn't teach a 5 year old. Maybe you should do a gospel video instead.
