I hope that your hospitalization helped some! I am really wondering if this is what I have, or if I actually have the Agitated Depression the Nurse Practitioner diagnsed. I have an appointment with the actual DOCTOR next week, so we shall see.

yes it did help alot but also made things alot worse at one stage. i was locked in a cell with just a mattress for hours on end because they thought i was going to escape!!!!! its a secure unit!!!!!!
instead of dealing with our issues they just drug us up to the eyeballs which i find so very unhelpful
good luck at the doctors hunny

My hospitalization was really a great experience believe it or not. They correctly diagnosed my, changed my medications and it has made all the difference in the world. Hang in there, everything is worth the wait.

Ouch that IS unhelpful! Do you have a regular Psychologist/Psychiatrist now? I hope you can get some help that IS helpful!

Default Rapid cycling

I am bipolar 1 Rapid Cycling. I have been on various medicine cocktails for years and am still adjusting them…I am much closer to finding the “magic cocktail” than I was before “the hospital.” Now I avoid alcohol and stay on schedule with my meds. I see a counselor and take part in some online groups. Keeping a regular schedule helps me. My palm pilot is great for keeping me organized and reducing clutter. Being in nature, getting exercise, taking quiet walks, yoga and meditation help to quiet my mind. Drawing and writing helps me diffuse my angst and gives me a creative way to express my feelings.

My mother has bipolar disorder. She takes her medication regularly and sees a psychiatrist once a month. She hasn't had an "episode" for over 18 years. You wouldn't know she had the illness if you met her on the street...and when I was growing up she was in and out of the state hospital, even had psychotic episodes & nearly killed a sheriff deputy once. You'd NEVER know it.

I firmly believe medication is the key with this illness.
