Default Attn: weight loss bloggers or other health nuts

So, my sister in law's family owns a chain of movie theaters here in Idaho and we were talking today about why not offer a selection of healthy concessions. The problem, they have tried it briefly before, offering raisins and a protein bar of some sort, with little luck. Does anyone have any ideas on what you would like to see at a movie theater concession stand, other than the calorie and fat loaded stuff they normaly offer?

Just because you're a health nut doesnt mean you want to eat granola at the movies. maybe look for "snack foods" that are just not grease filled. Popping some pop corn in low fat oil with no butter. Apple Chips... Sorbet. Fruit Smoothies :O) Things that just arn't calorie filled but still feel like a treat. I'm a health nut, and have never thought of a protien bar or raisins as a treat.

What about pretzels? Or maybe even baked chips? Or chex mix? These are still kinda "snacky things" but they are a little bit healthier than the other things that movie theaters offer. I know that I personally wouldn't buy a protein bar.

I use protien bars as meal repplacements some time. I wouldnt want to eat a meal at the movies. try looking on GNC's website or maybe heading out to your local heathy grocery store (Whole Foods etc) and ask some people there what they;d buy. It could be an intresting survey.

seeemilywrite - I completely agree. I thought that although they may be a good start, the selection needed to be a little better. The protein bar was an Atkins type thing, really low carb, they were trying to cater to people who couldn't eat carbs.

Those are all really good ideas, I will let her know....keep them coming if you have them.

One of my favorite treats is the Snickers Marathon Energy bars. They taste just like a candy bar, and truth be told, probably are pretty similar to a candy bar, but when I have to have something chewy and sweet, at least they are lowfat and loaded with vitamins. I would definitely want one of these at the movies, if I weren't too cheap to buy movie concessions!
