It's B1G1F, you bring 2 to the register, armed with the price of reduction (4.99), she rings in 2. You give the coupon, tell her it's $4.99, and she takes off that price.
Generally, I buy something ELSE, so the total is NOT 0.

I did buy something else. She saw the coupons and said since it's buy one get one free already I can't give you this coupon. So I said ok.

Yes some cashiers will insist you have to have 3 bottles. I generally use these when I have many items (will try to use it when I do a buy $ get $ deal). But have not had a problem doing it in the past at CVS or WG's.

She didn't insist. It was clear that she wasn't going to take them with 3 or 4 or 5 bottles. I think it's only this cashier. The other ones would look at it funny but would still put it through.

I used the 2 B1G1 coupons, as well as 4 $1 off as part of a larger order to reach 10/50
