I don't know if this is what you're looking for but I just read a study about how babies who are exposed to animals in the first year of life their risk of asthma decreases.

If it helps, we have two cats and two babies and no problems. (Apparently we're just like Noah's ark. . .everything comes in twos!)

I've always had animals in my home and having babies here is just fine. Not a single one has had a reaction. The new baby will not have the opportunity to be around a cat as mine passed away in September and we got a puppy to keep our old dog company rather than another cat. 2 animals at once is our number. No more, no less.
I think having a home with animals poses no real threat to a baby. Most dogs need to get a smell for the new family member. Have someone take home a blanket or piece of clothing the baby has worn at the hospital before the baby comes home so the animal knows what to expect. We really didn't have to worry about it as our dog was older when we got him and is a teenager now and his biggest activity is running to the door to go potty. But we have a puppy now who will be just over a year when the baby arrives. Keeping Ebony away from the baby will be our biggest challenge.

There has always been pets around the babies in my family and the only problem that we have ever come across was that my MIL cat liked the smell of breastmilk. So the cat was constantly trying to smell the babies mouth
