Default baby games

Hi Everyone. I have a son (Cameron) who is 7 months old. I'm finding this stage a little difficult because I'm not always sure what to do with him. He spends a lot of time playing with various toys...by playing I mean banging them together, shoving them in his mouth, examining them...that sort of thing and we sing songs and read books (reading = him trying to eat the book ). We go to the park almost everyday to play on the slide and swings and we do have play dates with other babies around his age atleast a couple of times a week. However, I feel like I am not interacting with him enough, he seems just as happy to play by himself as he is to play with me (apparently shoving things in your mouth is a one person kinda game ) Anyway, wondered if anyone could offer any ideas of games to play with him or things to do with him, that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the board!

Bet your little 7 month old is adorable and the sunshine at your home.

Playtime ideas for a 7 month old with Mom or Dad:

Pattycake

Peek-a-boo

"Where Is Thumbkin?"

The Little Spider with the hand motions

Babies love to look in a mirror. Play a game using the mirror.

When you read to your 7 month old, say the names of the objects, people, and animals as you point to them.

Make the sounds of the animals and the objects in the book.

Baby books with simple pictures and faces and books with lots of textures to feel are best.

Build a tower of wooden blocks with baby

Have toys in the bathtime for water play - plastic cup for your son to pour water out of, ever favorite yellow duck

Just have fun together!

Conner is now 10 months, but he was just about 7 or 8 months when he first started to like to play catch. I roll his ball to him, he catches it & throws it back. It's great fun!

Default Game Ideas

Hi Rebecca,
It sounds like you already spend a lot of quality time with Cameron! Some other ideas are make believe games, flash cards, baby signing, boxes or baskets with toys, etc. We had the same problem with our boy - our public library had a LOT of baby game books and you can search for sites online. Try the Fisher Price site, Babycenter, and *link removed by moderator*
Once he starts crawling he'll be into all sorts of mischief! Good luck
