As usual I'm not sure of any coverage of this story outside of the UK. A girl became the youngest to become pregnant and give birth to conjoined twins at 18 years old. The girls were born by cesearean section at London Univeristy college hospital last wednesday.
On Tuesday surgeons set about seperating the twins as though born healthy, their condition worsened, baby Hope Williams passed away shortly after as her lungs couldn't support her body.
Now baby Faith is fighting but in serious stable condition, I hope she makes it.

Oh how heartbreaking! My prayers are certainly with baby Faith that she makes it and has a healthy, full life.The poor mother, at 18, has been through hell and back, and she's so young. I hope her family is surrounding her and giving her all the support they can. Tough break.

i had heard about this, but im actually not surprised. while most conjoined twins dont live past 24 hours, thoras (thoracopagus - joined at the chest) rarely even survive birth. out of the thoras that are born alive, less than 5% live a week, and 4 years is the longest a set has lived remaining joined. less than 1% survive seperation surgery.
sad, yes, but these poor babies didnt have much going for them to begin with.
