Default Baby name drama

Ok so I am not going to go into specifics as I want to know everyones opinion. My husband is getting totally fed up with the fact that I have not been able to decide on a girl name. Well today he was going through a baby name website that shows the top 100 names for 2005. On this list is a name that I like but have tried not to suggest as it is a unique name that someone here on families.com has either used or is going to use (again not trying to get into specifics) I like the name and so does DH. I mentioned it to my mom today and she LOVES it. I just dont want to steal a name from another mommy. I know that names are out there and can be used. But because it is a more unique name I feel like I am stealing someones name. What do you think?

Truth be told most of us will never met "IRL" so go for it. Its your baby and you and Dh are the ones that opinion matters.

If someone liked my childs name enough to use it then I would be flattered. Actually a friend of mine was undecided on a girl name her daughter was born 8 weeks after I had Molly and she called her daughter Mollie. They are in different school years though.

Seriously honey. . .you have better things to worry about than whether or not someone you in all likelihood will never meet thinks that you stole her baby name. I highly doubt anyone would care especially given that your children will never meet.

I so have been there done that.

My daughter's name is Brielle. When I was PG with her, I had a nice list of girls names that were more common that I wanted. I had always loved the nickname Brie and had mentioned it on a message board, but I really did not want to name her Brianna because of its popularity at the time. I considered these ladies friends because well...it was nine years ago and the Internet was a lot smaller back then

One lady emailed me, told me she wasn't going to have anymore babies but had saved a name in her mind for years that she would use if she ever had a girl. She said even if she had a girl at this point, it was the perfect name for my daughter and it wouldn't bother her if I used it. Thus, Brielle was named. It was the perfect name for her too. I have french lineage, and I get to call her Brie.

Since Brielle was born, I have met many more. Some said they found her name on the Internet. Wouldn't it be funny if it was because of me. I'm always flattered that someone loves something I love so much they want to use it. I cannot imagine that anyone on here would actually get mad.

This is what I say: If you can see yourself naming your daughter this name, everyone in your family being happy with the decision, it being a name that you are proud to introduce your daughter as, NAME HER!

Best of luck! Baby naming is so much harder than some would think!

Go ahead and use whatever name you please. It's your baby, your decision. Don't worry about stealing any names. Besides it wouldn't be stealing, it would be expanding the love.

I would be flattered if someone told me that they were planning on naming their child the same name as one of mine simply because they loved the name.

I would go for it. We purposly picked out a name combination that will most likely never be copied, but I just recently found another infant was named Rhiannon in the city where dh and I call home when he's not in Iraq. I think it's ok to name your child what you want, you'll most likely never meet this woman or her child, so more power to you!!
