The things off the registry are okay, but after creating my registry, my best friend asked me, what about stuff for you? I was confused until she explained I didn't put nursing pads or anything like that on there. If the new mom is planning to breastfeed, you might could get her stuff like that, a nice nursing shawl or nursing pads. Or you could even make her a nice little "new mommy" basket. I did this for my best friend and loaded it with quick and healthy snacks, her favorite drinks (hot chocoalte), coupons for diapers/wipes/etc, and bath soaps, massage lotions (for her feet and back).

I usually get something for the baby that he will need later (six months or so). So many gifts are for the newborn but they grow so fast, the parents soon need all new clothing and supplies.

Getting gifts for when the baby is older is great, mum and dad will have masses of new born clothes and supplies, then one day those little legs will be too long for everything, so having a back up supply for growth is always a good idea.
Then something for mum and dad that aren't baby related and if they already have children a little gift for them to make them feel included.

I was about to suggest a gift certificate to a photo studio. Many have 'baby's 1st year' plans you can purchase. Being a photographer myself, I'm kinda partial to these types of gifts!!

I also like the idea of something for mom. My Moms club gives new moms 2 weeks worht of frozen meals - this could be a good idea, too.

Default Baby Shower

Fantastic site!!! You've done yourself proud.The more we learn about ourselfs and our surroundings the more prepared we will all be to fight the evils that poison our minds and OUR environment.One of the Dalai Lama's 19 instructions for life is: "Once a year,go someplace you've never been before".I'm glad I visited this wonderful site. Keep it up!I will certainly encourage others to stop by.

Some thing I got that were not on my registry and that were really neat were...

* handmade afghan

* toy box

* picture frame with putty to take your baby's hand/footprint

* a scrapbooking kit for baby. Or maybe get her a scrapbook, paper, stickers and other goodies to start her off.

* baskets for extra diapers to put under my changing table

* thick pads/blankets to put on the floor so baby can have floor time.

* waterproof pads that you can put over the mattress in the crib or basinette for those late night accidents (since mom will be sleep deprived she can just take the sheet off and put down this pad and it tucks into the sides so baby doesn't have to lay on a wet bed)

* milk bags, breast cream, nursing pads, nursing bra if she is breast feeding

* gift cards to cloth diaper stores/online stores if she is using cloth diapers. www.kellyscloset has them

* diapers.... Lord knows they need them. I got a huge variety of diapers so we could see how they all worked (Target brand, Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, etc.). We switched to cloth but have some disposable handy just in case we need them.

* nail clipper set

* travel size goodies

* any meds that they may need (meds for gas, teething tablets, tylenol, etc.)

* Register her for coupons on formula, diapers. Go to diaper brand and formula brand websites and register her address to receive coupons/samples. I breast fed, but had gotten a few cans of formula for free in the mail for those times I was having problems.

Hope this helps!
