From my experience, it could take a few weeks to dilate more- I stayed at 3 for nearly 3 weeks before I was induced at 38 weeks with DD.

I think what the dr meant by if the cervix is right was if it is soft enough. Not sure though.

Get lots of exercise like walking. Do you have one of those exercise/birthing balls? I was told that sitting on one of those will help tons as well- it's the movement you want to help get her head down.

Good luck!!

Hanky panky is actually a great idea. Semen has something in it that naturally softens your cervix. And it is absolutely the most fun you can have trying to go into labor sooner!

Kira pointed out walking. That's great too.

Other than that, there's not much you can do until the little one is ready. If this is your first pregnancy, it could take longer.

I also want to point out, not to rush it. I got majorly impatient towards the end. My ob wanted me induced after I went two weeks past my due date. I was induced, but it turned out they had my dates wrong, and took her early. She was most likely between 36-37 weeks gestation when I was induced.

So, take your time and finish baking that baby!

I had my membranes stripped with my 2nd DD at 39 wks and that did the trick for me. With 1st DD they sent me home from the hospital when I went in because I wasn't effaced they also told DH and I to have sex. I just looked at her like she was crazy. Because I was uncomfortable I thought why would I want to do that. I was huge and I personally did not think that was that fun in that point of the game. I did go into "real" labor later that nite though. I want to have this baby early, not to early of course, but I am getting impatient. I told DH that we might have to use that method to help things moving, he's so neglected at this point in time, he thought that would be a good idea. Also walking is supposed to be good at getting things going, I have never thought/heard/tried the excercise ball, I'm going to have to try that too!!

I agree. Hanky Panky & walking.
My grandmother use to tell me while I was pg with DD to make some big plans, cause you know something major will happen. *lol*

Good luck!
