I have moved the last of my accounts to my Credit Union:
Over the past several years I felt that the bank financial reps were too persuasive about investing in certain funds. Often after meeting with a bank financial planner I would return home with something that I didn't want.
Credit unions are different than banks. They exist solely to serve their members, not to pay high dividends to share holders. Credit union income is returned to members, offering higher deposit rates and lower rates on loans. At the time I transferred, my credit union was offering 1% more on a 5-year term deposit.
In over thirty-six years I have always found credit union staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and never persuasive.
