Default Be an at-home writer, editor, data input, etc

Ladies, there are all kinds of sites where you can bid on work. Elance.com is one I often use. Guru.com. You can try others. There are people paying for all kinds of internet services, as well.

Good luck out there!

Default More online jobs

Oh yeah. Try bid-job.com, too.

Just do a Google search for internet-based jobs, at home jobs, freelance jobs, contract jobs, etc.

Luck to all.

I've worked with Elance and guru. Never heard of bid-job. These are great ways to get started with online work.

I've found that quite often forums associated with 'whatever it is you want to do' are better than the jobs sites in the long term. Everyone on the freelance type sites is there looking for work, and competition is really stiff.

On forums related to the topic you have more chance to prove yourself and your knowledge, and can build up a relationship with people - quite often those people later become clients.

That's something I found out by accident - I didn't start on forums expecting to find work, it just happened after a while - but it's turned out to be quite profitable.

I agree. The competition on those sites is so stiff that you get 'stiffed' out of money. Craigslist is also a good place to look if you're wanting to do freelance writing and editing. OTOH, I think taking a few jobs here and there for online work is good when you're getting started. The online world is amazingly small.

Yeah, you do have to be careful on elance. I've gotten some pretty good clients that way, but there are also a lot of jobs where people want you to work for nothing. So I pick and choose, taking only projects that are worth the time. I get fewer jobs, but do get at least 3x to 4x what the cheaper providers bid per page.
