Default Be sure to have your IDs now for rebate checks

So are others being asked for ID when you used your rebate check or was it just me today b/c i had 2 orders?? For six years it wasn't a problem to use checks not in my name. Now only the person on the check can use them, even if signed by the person. They only checked to make sure they were signed. I wonder what the guy with four orders of rebates was going to think when he got up there. He was getting stuff for 2 weeks so I bet he was in for a surprise.

So I couldn't use any of the checks I had with me since I was not the correct person on the checks (my name matched on my mom's checks but not addresses). They were for my mom and dh. I just told the truth and they were acting like I was a criminal b/c my name wasn't on either check. My name situation is a bit different. Heck, they changed the policy in just the last 2weeks since I've been there. Not like they have done this all along. I'm not sending in rebates to 10 houses or to make believe people.

I know my name situation is different than most people. B/c of my mom's "conditions" and how busy she is, I do alot of shopping for her. So I pick up her Menards stuff usually, since you all know how much time it can take sometimes and saves gas money. My mom and I share first and last names, only our middle names are different. I kept my name after getting married. So for almost all of the rebates for my household go in dh's name in attempts to try to ward against confusion in the clearinghouses. We never had a problem when we lived in different towns, but I didn't want make things more confusing when we moved back to our hometown. So many places are so picky now--why ask for trouble.

So I guess now I'll have to send in the Menards for my household in my name, which is almost the same as my mom's. I'll use my middle name. There is no way my dh's would come with me every week or so to Menards. Who wants to bet whether they try to deny me or something?? It should be easy to prove (I hope it is) that YES we are 2 women w/ similar name doing rebates in same town. Separate tax ids, photo ID w/ addresses, etc. I just hope that it isn't a big hassle. Think it will be?? Should I just use a first initial and then my middle name?

Grrrr just frustrating.....
