Default Best insurance carriers

Which health, auto and life insurance plans have you used, and which would you recommend? I've been with United forever for my health and Geico for my auto and have been very happy with both, but United is getting really expensive and I would like to explore to see if there is a better option.

Recently, we switched from State Farm to Allstate for both auto and homeowners insurance. We are now saving about $1000 a year on homeowners an $40 a month on auto, with the same coverage! I say if you've been with one company for more than a few years, shop around! You'd be surprised at the money you can save.

We have American Family for both auto and homeowners and never had a problem with claim service. We have shopped around a few times but haven't found an insurance company to come close to our premiums with same coverage.

i haven't heard of american family. is it a nationwide or regional company? here in texas we have farmer's, state farm, allstate and usaa as the big ones. of course with usaa there are certain criteria to be eligible for coverage through them.

I have been very happy with Allstate for my auto - they are efficient, up front, and in my state and situation, a little less than Geico. I live in NJ, and thebusiness environment here is terrible for insurance. They stayed!
Health insurance is another story. I just have the very basic HMO because I am self employed and have to get it on my own. The cost is ridiculous, and nearly doubled last year. In NJ, we cannot organize for an insurance pool - so all the people of a professional association, union, etc can't go for a chaper plan, It has to come from employers only. Anyone have solutions to that?

We're pretty happy with Allstate for our home and our cars. I have a NY Life Insurance policy that will pay for my burial if nothing else. How's that for morbid?

I have worked with about 15 National Insurance Companies and based on my own feelings as a former Insurance Agent I like:
  1. Cubb Groups (and this is where some of my insurance is)
  2. MetLife
  3. Farmers Insurance Group
I consider the type of coverages, the policy limits, conditions and exclusions as well as the premuims to be important, but also claims handling and the fincial stability of the insurance compaines to be equally important.

You can learn more about the Insurance Company you have or are considering by reading The Blog I wrote AM Best The Insurance Information Source.
