Throw your pump out. Why do you think you're not producing enough? Seriously, don't pick up the pump for another 6-8 weeks! Tell me why you think you're not producing enough and then maybe I can help you a little more. For now, just nurse your baby on demand. Yes, it is normal for him to want to nurse constantly. That doesn't mean you're not producing. . .it means that he's building your supply. No pacifiers either. . .for now. Give me more info and we'll talk again. (Don't do anything else to increase your supply right now either. . .just nurse your baby.)

I remember back when I breastfed my children...a lactation consultant told me that eating vanilla ice cream helps produce more milk! Maybe that'll help???

! That's hilarious!!! The current thinking is to stay away from dairy when they're that young. But hey. . .I'll say anything to justify Cold Stone Creamery!!!!!

Feeding is really really intense the first few weeks. It does get better I promise. It takes time to build a supply. A lack of supply will show as too little weight gain or too few wet diapers. Twinz is right ignore the pump, put it away for now. I only get and ounce or two and Libbys nearly 5 months and as fat as a sumo wrestler! The best way to build your supply is just to let Lucas suck as much as he wants. I think in the first few weeks I was feeding Libbys 12 - 18 times a day. I felt like my butt was gonna weld itself to the chair.

I really wish that there was more info out there for new mums as to what to expect from bfing. So many mums I know gave up convinced they didn't have enough milk. Google the la leche league they has tons of really useful info.

Dani, your doing great! Well Done!!

Dani...take a look at a ballon...before you blow it up....Thats roughly the size of your babies tummy. There Stomaches only hold about an ounce at birth. Give it time...your body will produce enough for your babe. The thing with pumps is they usually don't give you an accurate reading of what you are making (unless you pump all the time like Christina). I can hardly get 1 oz of milk out with a pump...and I've been BF for almost 9mnths.

HugZ to you...your doing a wonderful job with Lucus....just give it time.

It's okay, Twinz! I'm sorry too. I am just a little over sensitive these days.
