Default big oops

I accidentally (we'll put it that way because I flat out didn't know that the fish was raw until I'd eaten it, and didn't even consider that the vegetable rolls could have come in contact with raw fish before eating them) ate raw fish and fish eggs today. It was only one or two pieces, three at most. I read up on everything, and I'm pretty much scared s**tless. I ordered vegetable rolls and my husband ordered a cooked roll for me and also a few uncooked for himself, and I accidentally grabbed one of the seared salmon rolls and then later found out that the two cooked pieces of rolls that I ate had fish eggs in them. I'm so worried that I hurt my baby.

What do you guys think?? It was from a restaurant we've been to many times and neither of us or anyone we know has ever become ill. I just have such horrid luck with things... I'm scared!
I'm 10 weeks pregnant. I hope things are still okay with the little bean...

Hi there,
Don't worry too much about it. Before I knew I was pregnant I ate oysters and drank a lot and the doctor told me not to worry as it was early stages.

i am sure everything will be fine. there are a few doctors that i work with that say it is ok to eat every once and a while, and also if it is from a place that you know well. a coworker of mine ate sushi a few times a month throughout her pregnancy. i personally wouldnt risk it, but i am sure you and bubs are fine!

I just got a brochure from my midwife the other day on kinds of fish that are ok to eat, and sushi, white tuna, halibut, lobster, etc. are all safe to eat two times a month, but no more than twice a month.

Other things such as salmon, sardines, shrimp, oysters, etc. are ok to eat twice a weeks.

And then there are the fish that are not safe to eat AT ALL: shark, swordfish, tile dish, king mackerel, walleye bigger than 20 inches, northern pike bigger than 30 inches, and musky. That is the complete DO NOT EAT list, so my personal opinion is that you and baby are ok! But I'm not doctor, of course!

Allison--
I am currently watching a program on Discovery Health called Pregnancy for Dummies that covers the first trimester (and really some things that can be taken into consideration throughout pregnancy) and they just said that sushi and other raw fish are perfectly fine, even in the first trimester! They said that the rule of thumb is that raw fish is about as harmful for pregnant women as it is for anyone else! I just thought of you when I heard that segment.

Thanks, guys. I haven't been having any problems cept for normal morning nausea at 6am (even though I don't wake up until 9!, lol.).
I dunno what I'd do without this site.
