Bittersweet Parenting
Roots and Wings.
That is what parenting is all about.
Give them roots to stay grounded
and then give them room to spread their wings and fly.
That's every parents' goal.
Finally have 2 in college. DS#1 is home for a weekend, then
back to school for 6 weeks to 2 months. He'll be really busy.
DS#2 is in junior college and still living at home.
I'm ready for DS#1 to be back home fulltime
and
send DS#2 to fulltime away school.
DS#1 goes back tomorrow morning to college.
We have had a lot of fun together this weekend.
Shopped, ate out dinner, visited w/ my parents,
cleaned. You know, the usual family stuff,
nothing fancy or exciting, just the normal.
Hard to let him go.
On the other hand, I'm ready for DS#2 to spread his wings.
He seems to have college-itis and doesn't feel the need
to be helpful at home. He isn't here much as he is the
social butterfly. Sleeps late, goes to class, sees friends,
stays up late, homework. You know college freshmen.
He did help this AM, only because I twisted his arm.
(No, not physically.)
I'm only posting because I know that in the future,
somebody else parenting will be in this very same spot.
Time flies by so quickly....you will blink your eyes and
have a child in college.
Parenting is bittersweet!
