Default Breastfeeding to Sleep and Night Feeds

Well i breastfeed Gabby to sleep and i'm not looking at stopping it just yet, but any advice on how to go, or not go, about it when i do?

Also Gabby did use to sleep 7 hours straight wake for a feed then sleep another 3 hours but then something changed, i'm not sure what but it was around the time of her 6 month grown spurt, and now she wakes up several times a night for a feed... not that getting up really bothers me but is it really a need or a want? Usually she goes down for the night wakes an hour later has a fairly decent feed then sleeps 3 to 4 hours has another good feed (usually about what she would have during a day feed) sleep another 3-4 hours feed again and then sleep 1 to 2 hours then feed again but usually not too much then what happens depends on how tired we both are, sometimes we will get up sometimes we will sleep another hour (or 2 if she is really tired)... i know that last feed at least is a want... there has been times when i have gotten her off to sleep by other means but then she wakes about an hour later, most times it's less than half an hour.

it's probably just a want. izzy's about a month younger than gabby and she does the same thing. i've started switching between feeds & just letting her lay on my chest. she knocks right out when i don't feed her. i started it about a week ago and she's cut down to her wake ups SO much that she only got up once last night. (which really could've counted as her being ready for the day but i wanted to squeeze in a few more hours).

The only way I could get Ellamae to sleep was to nurse her to sleep. When I went back to work dh had to figure out a way to get her to lay down for naps. He lays in bed and lays her in his arm with her laying on her side facing him. She pats his face a few times and then drifts of to sleep within 5 minutes. She no longer nurses before bed so I use that method also. When you want stop nursing her to sleep have someone else put her to bed with you out of the house if possible. It may take a while for her to catch on. You could try naps first.

just little update; 3 time in the last 2 weeks Gabby has slept through the night (ie slept 6 hours straight) and the first 2 times were in a row too... so i'm looking at that as a sign that she isn't really needing all them night feeds but it's cold season here and she is teething so once that passes i'm going to try Purelegance suggestion however Gabby is so stubborn and demanding that i'm sure i'll have to try every other means to get her to sleep

good luck! i'm glad she's sleeping better! i noticed the other day on our trip to the beach, that if izzy has her cup & is tired, she'll drink herself to sleep. she props her sippy cup up on a ledge, close her eyes and drink. does gabby do this?

Gabby starting to sleep through the night somewhat, it's only about 2 times a week and not usually longer than 6 hours, it's very much how she was between 2 weeks and 2 months, after the 2 months she was sleeping through almost every night... i haven't changed or tried anything yet... the only problem is that i think i felt her first molars coming in so i think they will disrupt everything again
