Breastmilk ice cream!?
I saw this story and thought it was interesting, to say the least.
I breastfed my son and will breastfeed my daughter when she arrives (any day now!), but I can't imagine eating ice cream made from another woman's milk, nor could I imagine selling my milk to be consumed by others.

That's pretty unusual, IMO.
I think that mother's milk is too precious to simply be made
into ice cream....particularly when there are babies in need of it
to survive!
When I was nursing my sons, DH's boss wanted me to send
him a cup of my milk for his coffee. My mother's milk
went to my infants for nutrition.......not an adult's coffee cup.

What the?!?! That is just so many shades of wrong for him to ask that Angie! Glad you kept your milk for your kids!

This is just wack. It has got to be a joke. We don't produce milk in the quantities that cows do. Also, our milk is a lot less creamy. Yuck.
The whole idea that it saves cows is nonsense. Cows are farm animals. They are grown for food. Either they are food or they produce it. This idea goes against the whole notion of farming.
And it exploits women. Selling breast milk for a commercial purpose is in the same category as selling blood. It is a body fluid, and when commercial interests are at stake, who can tell if the fluid has been properly tested against HIV or other things that can be transmitted in a body fluid?
And Angie, that guy was pretty vulgar, and showing a disrespect of women. What an insult.

Not only that mcmama but cows get plugged ducts and mastitis if they are not milked regularly. ..just like we do. It would be equally 'cruel'--if you want to call it that to stop milking dairy cows.

You get the impression that some of these wild eyed idealists don't live actual life?

I was going to add-- The article says that we are using millk that is made for baby cows to make our ice cream. So they want to switch to human milk. But isn't that made for baby humans, and wouldn't that be equally as mean? IMO, that's worse, taking a human baby's milk than a baby cow's milk.
Is this article a joke?? There are so many things wrong with it. It makes me believe it's an article from The Onion!!
