Thumbs down Britney Spears...

I really HAVE TO SAY---I feel that was SHEER STUPIDITY
on her part---to be driving with her baby on her lap---probably
FAST, if she was trying to get away from the paparazzi !

I guess we'll never know the truth about this situation. I read that other witnesses said the paparazzi were taking pictures but not harassing her. Even if they were, she should have taken the time to buckle her baby. Or she could have had her bodyguard buckle the baby while she was driving, or let him drive. She wasn't alone, so there were other alternatives to what she did. Also, this was not the first time she was caught on film with the baby on her lap. The last time, she was a passenger and got out of the car with the baby already on her lap. It is stupidity and selfishness.

She is such a bad representative for celebrity motherhood, young motherhood, etc. Being in the spotlight has some disadvantages, one is that you have to be even more careful about how you act as a parent, etc. There is no room for breaking the law in the name of "paparazzi", in my opinion.

Default I remember...

I remember when I was a kid...
Watching my father pull my little brother into his lap and letting him "drive" the car.
Bringing my pillow on long drives and lying across the back seat to go to sleep.
Getting a take-out meal at McDonalds, standing up on the back seat and looking out the back window as I ate my lunch.
Sitting on the floor of the car and using the seat as a table for my coloring books.
Never wearing a helmet while riding my bicycle.
Never wearing protective gear while rollerskating.
Sitting in the bed of a pickup truck as it whizzed down the highway.
Riding on the handlebars of my cousin's bicycle - without protective gear.

How did Generation-X ever survive childhood?!

Ahhh, a trip down memory lane.

My mother-in-law complains that we don't visit her enough. Our reason - a 5 hour drive with 3 kids is not fun. That and there are no cousins nearby for our kids to play with. Her comment to us is that she remembers what it's like driving with little kids and she did it, although my husband says they never went anywhere farther than an hour. The point is when she drove the kids were free to roam at will. Our kids are buckled down tight, and our 2 year old hates it.

But car seats are a necessary evil. It is proven that they do save lives. I get so angry when I see parents allowing their children to roam around the car, because they are risking their lives. You never know when an accident might happen.

Thumbs up for Coco...

I remember doing all that too,back then,it was different---not so rush-rush !
I like to ride my bike everyday(weather permitting)---I don't wear a helmet,
I will not wear 1 when I ride horses either---I honestly don't believe it does
any good---I've never had an accident !

Ha Irish - wait until you DO have an accident, you might have a different opinion. These things aren't always within our control. Someone else could hit you with their car, for instance!
Lisa - you forgot the winter sports! Ice skating, sledding and skiing are other areas where I spent my childhood being crazy and reckless and loving every minute of it. Now kids are supposed to wear helmets to do all of these things! My boys are heading down to our lake as I type to try out the ice and I am so tempted to make them wear their bike helmets But, to be honest, I'm a lot more concerned that they will fall in than fall down!

I wish the media would stop showing Brittney being an irresponsible mother. I don't want other young mothers to see that and think it's cool to do it because Brittney is doing it. She really should be fined for not having her child safely buckled in the car. I don't car if the paparazzi was chasing her, her actions were just plain STUPID!
