Post Buying a Safe Car

As a parent, I know that having a safe car has taken precedent over having an attractive, stylish one. I found a great article for evaluating the safety of a vehicle. http://www.thecarconnection.com/Shop...197.A4374.html.
It gives a good outline of the most important things to consider and also provides a couple of links for where to get more information on crash test results and such. The National Highway Traffic Safety Association has the latest information on everything from car seats to recalls. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

I checked out the site. It has some good information. Personally, I look for a 4-wheel-drive, LATCH and survivability. An Escort may be economical, but if I get into an accident and roll it, what are the chances the roof will crush? I want to know that whatever I'm driving can sustain massive damage while keeping me and my precious cargo safely inside.
