Default car seat support pillow

I was wondering if anyone has used any sort of body support pillows for baby in car seat. I linked a few to show what i am talking about. Just wondering how they work or if you like them

To me, a waste of money. Just an added unecessary but it's not like the don't work. Your baby's head will flop to the side but he'll never remember it.

--Nope. . .everyone here has one too. I just think they're over rated. They don't really get uncomfortable it just looks funny to us. We are on a very tight budget and there are other things I'd rather have. But to each his own.

Honestly, I had one for my son (first born), and I think we only kept it in the car seat for the first week since he was so big. I think it may depend on the size of the baby too. We never did use it for my daughter since she was a little bigger than my son and since she was born in the summer in made it even hotter.
I know my sister in law used one for my niece because she was a preemie. I think it depends on the size of the baby too.
I think there's other things you'll probably need to spend the money on. The other alternative is to put it on your registry and see if someone gives it as a shower gift.

thanks girls.
I never used one for my first 2 either, but just thought they looked so comfy. My girls were big when they were born and never seemed to umcomfy in thier carseats without them. I am guessing that thier baby brother will be as big or bigger so probably won't need one....just wondering what everyone else thought of them
thanks

when my sister took her car to DMV to be sure she installed the carseat correctly (they do free checks), the woman took out the support pillow, mirror & the extra storage pocket net thingy and told my sister to return them as they were "unsafe". i had never heard of such a thing, and it didn't make much sense because if all the car seat "accessories" were unsafe.. why would there be SUCH a large selection of them?

Because parents think they look comfortable and there is not as of yet any regulations regarding the safety of a head rest in a car seat. I agree though. . .you shouldn't use anything extra in the car. I realize the op said car seat but I was thinking in a stroller. It's my city brain. . .I walk every where and when I think car seat I think of one on a stroller.

Default I just bought Infantino car seat insert

I don't think these are a waste of money at all. They do help support tiny infants heads and hold them in a better postural position. Letting an infant slump down with their head falling to the side could cause chiropractic problems. I see a chiropractor regularly for my own alignment and it made my pregnancy so much more comfortable. I would feel very neglectful not making sure my baby is in proper alignment during car rides that can be very jarring. This is important to me.

Is this your first I assume? Like I said, to each his own and I'm glad you've shared. It gives ladies other things to think about because everyone has to decide for themselves. But the car seat shouldn't be sitting straight up. . .it should be somewhat reclined. If it's somewhat reclined. . .your baby's head doesn't flop so much--see? You only need to keep the head from flopping if you have the infant car seat positioned incorrectly--which I'm pretty sure would be bad for his alignment too. On top of that, if it's not reclined enough. . .the baby's head will flop forward too and they don't make a positioner for that.
